    Gmail Account Disabled Reason 1

    Before you press the send button when sending  your next email via google, always check and double check your recipients addresses. If you send an email that has a large number (around 25) of dead or non-existent email addresses that get bounced back, google will disable your account for a miniumum of 24 hours or possibly permanently.

    Can content be duplicated across Twitter and Facebook?

    Can content be duplicated across social networks?

    Typically duplicating content is not a problem as most people will only actively use one network, but you should not only post duplicate content. Having said that the content on twitter should be an abbreviated version of the Facebook content as you are limited to 140 characters.

    With twitter you can/should repeat content as people normally view their twitter content on a constantly scrolling screen so they may not even see your post unless it is repeated.

    Facebook content should not be duplicated.

    If someone comments on your post on Facebook or twitter always try to reply, even if it’s just an acknowledgment.

    How to add Google Maps to your Website

    Why Add Google Maps to your site.

    1. Google Maps is an easy and free way to add a map to your website, showing where your business/shop/office/surgery etc is located or the area you cover.
    2. Google maps allow your visitors to zoom in and out and move the map around.
    3. By using Google Maps there is no need anymore to go out and buy a royalty free map or pay someone to draw one.
    How to add Google to your website

    How to add Google to your website

    Add Google Maps.

    Before you make any changes to your website or add any code you need to get your key from Google & get the coordinates to centre the map on, you will need to add them to your code later.

    Copy the provided Key into notepad or your preferred software.

    Copy the Latitude, Longitude into notepad or your preferred software.

    Code

    Now add the following code to your website.

    • Make sure it is placed in the header section of the HTML page above the <body> tag.
    • Replace the KEY HERE for your key.
    • Replace the -31.434259, 152.900294 for your saved Latitude, Longitude.
    • To Zoom in or out on the MAP adjust the zoom level on setCenter, it is currently set to 15.

    <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;key=KEY HERE&sensor=false" type="text/javascript"></script>

    <script type="text/javascript">
    function initialize() {
    if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) {
    var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas"));
    map.setCenter(new GLatLng(-31.434259, 152.900294), 15);
    map.setMapType(G_NORMAL_MAP)
    map.setUIToDefault();
    }
    }

    </script>

    Now place the following code at the point in the HTML were you would like the map to be displayed.

    To change the size of the map, edit the width and height as desired.

    <span id="map_canvas" style="display: inline-block; width: 630px; height: 300px"></span>

    That’s it, upload your changed website and test.

    Want to make sure potentially customers link about you when they try to visit one of your competitors? then add their URLS into you keyword list.

    If you add your competitors URLs into your keyword list then every time someone types them into Google your site will appear hopefully just above their site, grabbing you some extra business.

      mm, this could be interesting, i did try this a few years ago but Google kept giving errors when i tried to submit.
      I will have to give it another try as being able to but a competitors URL in your keyword list could be very advantages, as you can make sure a potential customer will always see your name and advert when they are are trying to go to a competitors site.

    Apples New OS Lion Missing Rosetta!

    The new operating system from apple named Lion is great, it has over 200 new features including multi touch, wireless file sharing and an Iphone/Ipad style app interface and it only costs £21!

    But apple have not mentioned that the new OS Lion does not include Rosetta.

    Rosetta was a translation engine included in previous operating systems that enabled the new Intel Mac computers to run older applications that were written to run on Motorola & IBM PowerPC powered Macs.

    The result is, if you have any old applications like office for mac or Adobe PhotoShop Elements that were not written to work on intel processors, then they won’t work on Lion.

    If you have lots of old software then this could be a very expensive upgrade!

    How to automatically redirect visitors to your mobile website

    So how do you automatically detect and then redirect your user to either you mobile site or your main site?

    It is very simple; the first thing to do is decide which mobile phones and tablets you are going to deal with. I would suggest you focus on the main 4 mobile phone operating systems and ignore the older ones as they are not worth the extra hassle. Tablets can also be ignored as they should be able to cope with your main site – unless you use flash and it’s an apple tablet.

    The four main Mobile phones operating systems are Android, Blackberry, iOS (Apple), Windows and WebOS (HP/Palm).

    To implement the automatic redirect follow the steps below

    1. Login into your web host via FTP and locate the root directory on your web server, this  is normally where your index.htm file is located.

    2. Look for a file called “.htaccess”.
    If the “.htaccess” file is missing then create a blank file in notepad and use that. Remember the filename is just “.htaccess” there is no extension.

    3. Edit either the “.htaccess” file you downloaded or the new file you created and add the following lines.
    • RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/ MOBILELOCATION /.*$
    • RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} “android|blackberry|ipad|iphone|ipod|iemobile|opera mobile|palmos|webos|googlebot-mobile” [NC]
    • RewriteRule ^(.*)$ / MOBILELOCATION / [L,R=302]

    ** change “MOBILELOCATION” with the location of your mobile site.

    4. Save your edited file and upload it to the root directory and test.

    Remember to backup your old htaccess file before uploading your new one encase anything goes wrong.
