The below instructions assume you are using a windows based machine and use a great little utility called HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool this can be used to create an exact low-level, sector-by-sector device duplication you can clone SATA, IDE, SAS, SCSI, SSD drives, USB sticks, SD, MMC and CompactFlash cards to an img file or to another device..

    Clone your SAS Hard Disk

    • Download the utility from http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool/.
      • We would recommend you get the standalone version as this means you don’t need to install the program and will run straight from the download.
    • Pop your SAS Hard Disk into your PC or laptop.
    • Start up the program.
    • Highlight your SAS Hard Disk and click continue.
    • Highlight the device you want to copy to, or select if you want to write to an image file.Clone
      • If you want to write to an image file to copy to a SAS Hard Disk at a later date –  Double click on the FILE option and choose the location and name for your image file.
    • Click Continue.
    • You will now get a display showing your previous choices, check them and then double check them – If you write to the wrong drive e.g. Your main hard disk your computer will be very poorly!!
    • Click start.
    • The program will now clone your SAS Hard Disk.SAS Hard Disk Clone

That is it, you now have a clone or an img file of your SAS Hard Disk. If you created an image file this can now be used to make multiple clones.

To go the opposite way e.g. Burn an image to SAS Hard Disk, choose an image file in tSAS Hard Disk Clonehe first window and then an SAS Hard Disk in the second.

Well luckily it is very easy to fix, all you need to do is clear your web browsers on line cache, close your browser and re login to hotmail / outlook.

To clear your web browsers cache varies from browser to browser so check you help files for specifics but generally –

    • Options
    • Privacy \ content or similar.
    • Clear recent history
    • Make sure cache is selected and then press ok or clear.

How Can I Improve My Websites Search Engine Position?

Bing have just released a very interesting article on their blog detailing the items that can help your search engines position and what can be detrimental. even though it is bing that has released this info it should also be applicable to Google and the other search engines as well.

How Can I Improve My Websites Search Engines Position?

How Can I Improve My Websites Search Engines Position?

    Items that can help improve your sites position;

    • Title tags
    • Meta Descriptions
    • Clean URL
    • Images and Alt descriptions (also called alt tags)
    • H1 tags
    • Rel=Canonical
    • Robots.txt
    • Sitemaps
• Social sharing options
    • Unique content
    • Depth of content
    • Matching content type to visitor expectations (text, images, video, etc.)
    • Usability Page load times (to a certain point – faster is great, but not at the expense of usability andusefulness)
    • Crawlability (AKA discoverability, so can we actually get to all your content)
    • News – if you are actually a new site, submit for inclusion

    Items that you should avoid or that will have little effect;

    • Meta Keywords (fill them in if you like, keep it short and relevant, but not a big ranking factor)
    • Duplicate URLs
    • Overly long URLs (no set number, but you’ve all seen these)
    • Cloaking (comes down to your intent, but risky business for sure)
    • Link buying
    • Selling links
    • Link and like farms
    • Three way links
    • Content duplication content
    • Auto following in social media

This is not a definitive list and not all items will apply to your site, also just having H1 tag on your page will not necessary improve your site unless the tag is used correctly.

Check out the full article here.

People often in today’s modern world run their entire lives and and businesses via email, so what would happen if you suddenly lost access to your account? what would happen if you no longer had all your receipts or business contacts? It would not be good…. So we are often asked how can I get a backup just in case it gets corrupted or I lose access to my account for some reason. Below are a few of the easiest methods we have found to quickly and securely create a backup of your email.

How Can I Backup My Gmail Account?

    Methods.

    • Gmail Backup – A great free standalone program for windows and mac that will automaticly download and store all your emails in standard EML files meaning you can open them in any email client e.g. outlook or thunderbird. it also stores any attachments.

Download it from http://www.gmail-backup.com/download – It is also open source so you can do mods or integrate it into your own applications if you so wish.

If the download link is down on their main site (as it was for me the other day) you can grab it from here

How Can I Send an EXE via Gmail?

Google’s Gmail email system system prevents all executable file types and some system files from being sent via its servers as a virus protection measure. This is good but also very annoying if like us you often have to send these types of files to customers and other people with in the company. If you try to send an file type that Google does not like Gmail will give you an error message along the lines of “FILE is an executable file. For security reasons, Gmail does not allow you to send this type of file”.

Luckily there is a couple of fairly easy ways to get round it.

How Can I Send an EXE via Gmail?

How Can I Send an EXE via Gmail?

    Methods.

    1. Use a free facility such as dropbox to upload your file and then email the direct link to the file so that your friend \ colleague \ customer can easily download it to their device. Another advantage to this is that you are not limited to the size of the file.
    2. Rename the file without an exe extension, Compress it with any compression utility and then attach it. Now it will get attached, and uploaded successfully. The receiver of the email should uncompress the attachment and rename it again with exe extension.

How Do I add an VC-1 license key to my Raspberry PI?

Before purchasing your License from the raspberry pi shop you will need your Pi’s serial number.  This is quite simple to do.

Get Your Raspberry PI Serial Number

    • Boot UP your PI.
    • Goto system > system info > network.
    • Note your serial number –  should be something like 000000000ffae29e.

Once you have your Serial number go to http://www.raspberrypi.com/vc-1-license-key/ fill in the form and pay your money. 2-3 days later you will get an email with your new License code.

How Do I add an VC-1 license key to my Raspberry PI?

How Do I add an VC-1 license key to my Raspberry PI?

In the email you will find a line similar to decode_WVC1=0x7654321 the  “0x7654321” is your License.

Add your License to your OpenElec / XMBC Installation

    • Insert your SD card in to your PC or MAC etc.
    • Open up your SD card in your file viewer of choice.
    • Open config.txt.
    • Scroll down until you find # decode_WVC1=0x00000000.
    • Delete the #.
    • Change the 0x00000000 to your new license.
    • Click save.
    • POP the SD card back in your PI and reboot.

Note – Some versions of XMBC have a field in their settings tab to allow you to input your license directly via the interface.

That’s it your job is done.

If you use multiple OS versions on multiple SD cards you will need to add the License to each.

    Test your License

This process uses SSH, i would suggest you use a program called putty get it from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Default SSH username and password on openelec is username = root and password = openelec

Get your IP address from system > system info > network

    • SSH into your Pi.
    • Type “vcgencmd codec_enabled WVC1”  without quotes.

You will then get either a WVC1=enabled or WVC1=disabled.
